Today the Church asks that we pause and pray for all our beloved friends, family, and acquaintances who have died.
Death haunts the whole of life here below. Some of us run from or deny this tragic factor of human life, but death comes for us all.
However, for the Christian death has no sting! Jesus Christ went down into the pits of death and emerged victorious, bodily resurrected! And we all, as we say in the Creed, "believe in the resurrection of the body and life of the world to come." Do we really believe this? Do we believe it for our loved ones? Lord, help our unbelief!

- Who can you honor by your prayers today? Who are the loved ones you have lost?
Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
